Men’s basic T-shirts

There are some things you can never have enough of. Like? Albums. We never get tired of collecting hits and classics that we’ll be listening to for our whole lives, over and over again. If we could, we would no doubt have a whole room set aside for storing them. A similar thing goes for men’s basic T-shirts. It doesn’t matter how many we have, it’s never enough. That’s because a basic is always useful—it’s suitable for going anywhere and always pairs well with what you’re wearing. Colour is another story. Does this T-shirt go with these trousers? What if I wear it with this shirt over it and left open? Does it go with the tones in this print? The answer in this case is: the more colours you have, the more chance you have of getting it right.
Now, it might seem that by saying "men’s basic T-shirt” we’re talking about something simple, a trivial matter involving nothing more complicated than choosing the colour we like best. But, my friend, nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone interested in fashion will tell you that not all basic T-shirts are made equal; that not all of them go with everything; that they don’t all look the same on you; and, of course, that your choice should never be random because there are several factors to consider before picking one for yourself.
The first is obvious: colour. A lot of the time you’re perusing the options, only knowing that you need a basic shirt that’ll go with everything. To do this, have you taken into account the predominating colours in your wardrobe? Do you want to combine it specifically with one of your latest purchases? Do you want to wear the "it” colour of the season? Ask yourself these questions before selecting the one for you. And, of course, there are some colours that can’t be missing from your drawers. For us, it’s black, white, grey and a striking colour. Which are yours?
The second thing is the design. Long sleeves? Short sleeves? Straps? Of course, here you’ll have to think about when you’ll most use it. And besides that, what effect do you want from your basic T-shirt? Maybe a design that is fitted to your figure to wear under a shirt or sweater. On the other hand, you might prefer a loose design for more of a surfer fashion vibe.
What length do you prefer? One with length to the waist or perhaps one with a longline fit, as seen in the most urban trends? You also need to think about the neckline. You can choose round neck or V-neck designs, but you’ll need to know if you want it wide or more fitted.
Lastly, pay attention to the details. Faded effect, with a pocket, with buttons on the neckline, turn-up sleeves…
On top of that, basic T-shirts will always go with everything, because they’ll bring harmony to a more print-based look, as well as adding a touch of colour or intensity to another look. So take a look around here and find the trendiest trousers, jeans and Bermuda shorts to create the perfect combination for you.
As you can see, choosing your basic T-shirt is not as basic a matter as it might first seem. Can you decide on the one for you? see more See less
